 Developing Number Sense

These short videos will explain how children can learn skills in the Early Years which will help them to become confident mathematicians throughout their school life and beyond.

Watch the videos in order, as each one builds on new information you will be learning along the way.

 Noticing

This video looks at how important 'Noticing' skills are. We will have a look at all of the skills which are being developed when children sort out collections of interesting objects, make decisions about shape, colour and size, and look for similarities and differences.

Visualising

In this video we will learn how important these noticing skills are, and will develop these further by noticing quantities of two or three objects in the environment. We will learn how to play '3 or not 3' with a video clip at the end and you will develop skills to support your child to instantly visualise quantities of number.
